Flew BA Club Europe from Amsterdam to LHR on 4th Jan on a very new Airbus 321 and the plane was fitted-out with what were clearly old seats apart from row one.
The leather seats was worn, seats were sagging and seat pockets were ripped. I've never experienced a new plane with 'second hand' fixtures before so wondering if his is WIllie Walsh's latest cost cutting initiative.
Wondered what they were doing with the old clubwold seats currently being replaced. I guess WIllie is storing them in his garage ready to be put in the A380s when they show up!

How do you know it was a new plane? Probably it was recently painted and therefore it gave you the wrong idea. BA has not made any recent changes (as far as I know) in the shorthaul product so I don't know what were you expecting.

Actually I did not know that but it sounds feasible. BA has in the last year removed a lot of convertor seats from the Airbus fleet and replaced them with the new economy seats, so why not fit them to new deliveries.

Well some are being refurbished for the Lauren B757s.

Talking about this particular one. I flew it from LHR to VIE on Dec 4. I noticed that there is a new AirShow verion (the map) which is better. Does this version run on all the fleet or only the new added 321s. The AirShow displays better details of London. It shows a BA A320 flying over the different cities on the way to Vienna. It even shows the plane landing in Vienna.
I have also noticed that the lights are better now. They look like desctop spots. I really enjoyed the new A321.
Next flights : VIE-CDG-GIG-CDG-VIE (AF), VIE-BRU-VIE (OS)

Well if you were on G-EUXL and the seats have been replaced it must have been relatively recent as I was on it a few weeks ago and the seats were all brand new. Haven't been on EUXM yet but recently I've been on EUXG,H,I and J as well as EUXL and none of those had old worn seats. But I haven't been on a 321 since before Christmas now so things may have changed.

I noticed this on EUXL. The overhead panel lights are dimming LED's, very nice. The new Airshow only appears to run on these new 321's AFAIK, as I've been on some 319's and 320's since, and both had the old version... the one where Stansted shows up as Stansted in Kent, which has about 30 residents, rather than Stansted Airport.. Always makes me laugh, but then I'm a bit sad...

Ha - noticed that myself a couple of times too. Real helpful for any visitors who might use that as an initial cue on how to transfer from one airport to the other. I thought it was a mistake - didn't know there was a Stansted in Kent.

Lol I don't think many people do, there's not a great deal there... The Police shot someone there over Christmas there, and that's about it really... Certainly no BAA shopping mall airport there, thats for sure

These aircraft are nothing to do with GB. GB's A321's are G-TTIA, TTIB etc.
If you look at most of BA's fleet, excluding, for example, the 737-400's, they show as follows...

I flew on G-EUXL in October 2007and the seats were spanking brand new. The springs on the seat pockets 'failing' is a common problem for aircraft seats and would not be unique to this aircraft.

The new Airshow is only on the very latest A321 aircraft. I think it is just XL and XM at the moment. XJ onwards also has the new CIDS (cabin) system. The panel for this is the large LCD at the front of the cabin which previously was just a large panel with lots of buttons on it.
There are also a whole host of upgrades 'under the hood' as well which Airbus have kindly added.
